Runoff cut a gully through the hillside

Every hard rain moved more of the bank downhill and dumped shale across the low ground. The drive washed out with it.

Jake pulled the washout back to solid ground, set a culvert to carry the water under the drive, and armored both ends in heavy rip-rap so the flow has somewhere to go instead of somewhere to cut. Drive was regraded and stoned on the way out.

I'm happy to say the first thing Jake Lindsey said to me after I asked him how much my project would cost was, "Is that fair?" I was struck by that question because nobody cares whether or not the price they quote is fair in today's world, they just care if they get the job.

It is also rare to find a contractor with the skill to charge whatever they want, but chooses to charge a fee that is reasonable. I have witnessed Jake's skills firsthand, in difficult situations, dangerous situations, and in situations where others could not do the job.

I recommend contacting him early in project planning, and being patient for his arrival. His skill is truly remarkable and worth the wait.

Jake was born and raised around Granville, Johnstown and Utica and started Lindsey Farm and Excavating in 2018. He gives the estimate, he runs the machine, and he is the one you call if something is not right afterward.

It is a small operation on purpose. That means jobs get his full attention, and it also means booking ahead is worth doing rather than waiting until the water is already in the basement.
